Yahoo! Widget Engine is the reason this site exists. It is a product originally made by Pixoria, which was acquired by Yahoo! on July 25, 2005. Before version 3.0, it was known as Konfabulator. With Yahoo!'s acquisition, the engine was made a free (as in beer) product for the Mac OS and Windows operating systems.
At the heart of Yahoo! Widget Engine is its ability to spawn widgets: small, visually pleasing little things that sit on your desktop and inform/amuse you.
